A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to teach a mix of 1-4 year olds in the nursery. It was unexpected, so I offered up a short prayer of "help" to God and off we went. It was just after Christmas so I went with - "Why did God send Jesus to live with us?" The primary message ended up being that Jesus was sent to heal our "boo-boos". They all related to that and in-tandem I had 8 little ones all shouting out their worst and latest "boo-boos"!
A day or two later, I'm perusing Facebook and came across Cristie Martine sharing a story about her youngest, Maliah.
This is what she wrote:
"Maliah got a boo boo on her lip. She said she was going to ask Jesus for a new one. Opening her shirt, she look down inside towards her heart and said, 'Jesus, can ya get me a new lip?' Giggling I said, 'is he in your heart?' 'YEP' she said ... 'he's there!'
Maliah was at church that scattered morning and she received God's word and promises and somehow, someway, a seed was planted. It is my continued prayer that as a teenager and adult, Maliah will remember that seed and know Jesus is always with her, wanting to heal her boo-boos, whatever form they may take.
Thank you to all the volunteers who continue to plant seeds in the hearts of our children. They are listening!
Isaiah 55:11 - so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
